It is a movie theater in Jaipur Rajasthan. In the modern times of multiplexes, it is a single-screen movie theater famous amongst tourists and locals for its grand structure and elegant interiors.

It is situated near Panch Batti on Bhagwan Das Road. It proudly overlooks the junction of walled city and modern Jaipur next to famous Panch Batti crossing on Bhagwan Das Road.

History

Shri Mehtab Chand Golcha dreamt of a cinema hall that would do justice to Jaipur’s rich architectural tradition and offer a magnificent experience to Bollywood movie buffs.

The foundation of Raj Mandir was laid in 1966 by Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Mohan Lal Sukhadia.

It was designed by Famous architect Shri W.M. Namjoshi. Under the guidance of Mehtab Chand ji it took 10 years to complete it’s construction. First movie screened in it was Charas on 1st June 1976.

What is special about Rajmandir Cinema?

It is one of the largest cinema halls in Asia. It could be the only cinema hall which is more famous for its palace like design and magnificent interiors rather than the movies screened in it.

9 stars on the exterior signify 9 gem stones which is the prime occupation of current owners of Rajmandir.  It’s high ceilings are decorated with chandeliers. The lights illuminate the hall and ceilings like stars in the sky.
