Birla Mandir Jaipur – A Must Visit White Marble Structure in All Pink City

What is Birla Mandir? It’s a place of worship for Hindus in Jaipur, Rajasthan and a major tourist attraction in Pink City.

Where is Birla Temple in Jaipur?

It is situated at the foot of Moti Doongri Fort on the busiest route of Jaipur, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg road.

Birla Temple History

The temple was built by Indian conglomerate, Birla family. Thus, the temple is called Birla Mandir. It is one of many Birla Temples in Country. The land for the temple was provided by Jaipur Royal Family for a token money of Rs.1 only. The construction started in 1977 and on 22nd February 1988 it was opened for public.

The temple is made of finest quality white marble. It is dedicated to God Vishnu (Narayan) and Goddess Lakshmi. As a result the temple is also referred as Lakshmi Narayan Mandir.

The architectural marvel shines when moon rays fall on it or during the evening time when sun rays reflect on it. It is visible from the road too. The temple is spread in a large area surrounded by road on three sides and Shankargarh Fort on the fourth side.

Additionally, the temple includes museum which showcases ancestral possessions of Birla family.

Entry to the museum is free for all. Shops within the temple complex offer religious literature, music, traditional & modern Indian garments.

A small street food market opposite to Birla Mandir offer spicy Indian food. However, the market opens in the evening only.

Just one and half kilometres away from the temple is Rajapark Market which is famous for its Delhi look alike food joints. The market is developed mostly by Punjabi community in Jaipur.

As a result, the impact of Punjabi culture on food and streets could clearly be seen. The market offers from street food to cafes, traditional garments to international clothing brands and many non vegetarian restaurants. Rajapark is one of the most popular markets amongst youth and surely the pride of Jaipur.

Birla Mandir Jaipur Timings

The temple opens daily for visitors from 8 AM in morning to 12 PM in noon and from 4 PM in evening to 8 PM in night.

It takes 30-45 minutes to visit the mandir. There is parking facility for two wheeler, cars and buses just outside the premises.

The temple is located on the busiest road of Jaipur. It is very well connected to every part of city via buses, cabs, taxis, autos or e-rickshaws.
